Starting school is an exciting milestone for every child and family. At Terrigal Public School, we are committed to making the transition to school a positive, enjoyable, and successful experience. Starting Kindergarten is a significant milestone for every child and family. It is a time filled with excitement and new experiences. At Terrigal Public School, we are committed to creating a caring, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn.
To help make the transition to school as smooth and enjoyable as possible, we have prepared a range of helpful information and resources for you. We hope these give you a glimpse into life at Terrigal Public School and answer many of the questions you may have before your child's first day.

Kindergarten Transition Program
Our Kindergarten Transition Program has been carefully designed to help children become familiar with school routines while building confidence and excitement about starting school.
Throughout the program children will have opportunities to:
- Meet our teachers and support staff
- Visit Kindergarten classrooms
- Explore the playground and school environment
- Participate in engaging learning activities
- Make new friends
- Become familiar with school routines
Parents and carers will also receive valuable information about school life, routines and ways to support their child at home.
Important dates
Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time for a tour. Executive-led "Walk and Talk" tours are available most Tuesdays by appointment. We encourage you to book your preferred day by contacting the school office.
We encourage all prospective families to attend one of our school tours.
A tour is a wonderful opportunity to:
- Meet our leadership team
- Visit classrooms while learning is taking place
- Explore our facilities
- Learn about our curriculum and wellbeing programs
- Ask questions about starting school
Visit us at 3:30pm on Thursday 17th September 2026.
Prior to the commencement of school, parents and carers will be invited to attend an information session where they will:
- Meet our teaching staff
- Learn about opportunities the school has on offer
- Understand school communication systems
- Find out how reading, mathematics and wellbeing are taught
- Learn how to support learning at home
- Mingle and meet other students and families attending kindergarten at Terrigal Public School next year

Enrolling for Kindergarten 2027
Children may enrol in Kindergarten if they turn 5 years of age on or before 31 July 2026.
Applications can be completed online through the NSW Department of Education enrolment system or by contacting our school office.
Families will be asked to provide:
- Birth certificate or proof of identity
- Proof of residential address
- Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement
- Any relevant medical information or support plans
- Family law documentation (if applicable)
If you don’t want to enrol online, you can download and fill out the enrolment form. Then hand it in at our school's front office.
