Religion and ethics

A feature of our school is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective of your choice.

The following Special Religious Education options are currently available at Terrigal Public School:

Catholic - Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay

Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students whilst also providing them the opportunity to critically explore their faith and to pray and reflect.

Combined Christian - Baptist Union of NSW, EV Church, Uniting Church in Australia

With SRE teachers from local churches, students ask questions, explore the Bible and discover the Good News of Jesus Christ and what is means to be a Christian in our world today. Lessons are age-appropriate, fun and inclusive.

If you do not wish for your child to attend Special Religious Education, you can select from the following:

Special Education in Ethics

Students practise and improve skills in critical thinking and ethical reasoning to develop a life-long capacity to make well-reasoned decisions, discussing age-appropriate ethical issues with peers in classes led by trained volunteers.

Alternative Meaninful Activities (no religous or ethics education)

Students not attending special religous education or special education in ethics will be located in a separate space and will participate in alternative meaningful activities. This could include reading, private study or completing homework.

You’re welcome to change your choice at any time. Just let us know in writing or use the online form (if available at our school).
