Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Two choirs operate in our school. The junior choir and the senior choir.

The junior choir involves students in Years K - 2. They perform at various events.

The senior choir consists of students in Years 3 - 6. They perform at various events and also participate in the Central Coast Choral Festival held every second year.

For more information please contact the choir co-ordinator via the school office.

We have two bands operating in the school. The training band (for students new to the program) and the concert band (for those with experience).

The band program is managed by the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music with support from the school.

Students undertake a group lesson each week and have individual tuition during class time.

The band performs at various events during the year.

Some instruments are available for hire from the school at a reduced cost.

A band committee operates to support the bands.

Contact the band co-ordinator via the school office for more information.

At Terrigal Public School there are various opportunities for students to participate in Dance.

The school supports dance as part of the sports program.

Specialist dance opportunities are provided and these vary each year as different priorities are undertaken. These opportunities have included School Spectacular, StarStruck and Central Coast Dance Festival.

Information about dance programs is provided to students at the beginning of each year.
